(19) Descent of the Lords of Buxhall, County Suffolk

Robert Reyce, Esq., the Suffolk Antiquary, in a letter to Sir S. D'Ewes, of Stowlangtoft, gives a pedigree of the Copingers.  The letter is dated from Preston, February 25th, 1633, and the following is an extract from it: "The family secretly do distaste me for finding out the defects of the genealogy, the toppe of their heighte is come to Buxhall, and they came originally from Bury amongst the Abbot's mechanicals out of which many families were erected in those tymes."  These remarks, even if true, which they are not, would apply to one branch of the family only.
