(49) Eric Stewart de Burgh Copinger
Eric was born on 10th November 1911, the youngest son of Charles Arden de Burgh Copinger and his wife Essie Maud.
When he was old enough, probably in 1929 after the death of his mother, Eric went into the Army. He served in the Royal Corp of Signals in the far East and in particular in Shanghai between 1932 and 1935 and in Palestine between 1935 and 1937.
He had left the army when he married Constance Holoway on 8th January 1944. The wedding took place at St James Church, Hope, which is part of Salford.
They had three children;
Eric was only 41 years old when he died on 25th April 1952.
Constance's second marriage was to Hyman (known as Harry) Lawrence whose family of Jewish Russian immigrés had changed it from Lowenburg in the 1930's. The children were adopted taking the surname of their step-father, Lawrence, while retaining the name Copinger as one of their forenames.
