(43) Charles Edward de Roscoff Copinger


Born on 18th August 1879 Charles was educated at Hatfield College, Durham.

He followed his father into the church and became curate at St Margarets on Thames and then Priest in charge of St. Mellitus, Hendon. He was the first vicar of St. Alphage in Hendon which, because he was such a great leader, was made one of the main training parishes of the London Diocese. Here he had three curates in the posts of a priest and two deacons. Three Sisters of Mercy were also attached to the parish.

Later he became rector of Little Hadham, Herts. A post which he held until his death in 1942.
